Exploring Space Exploration: “Find the latest news about NASA’s Mars missions. Summarize the key points of the most recent mission, and then generate an image that depicts a futuristic Mars rover based on the described technologies in the news article.”

Discovering Cultural Cuisine: “Look up traditional Japanese cuisine and select a popular dish. Describe the dish’s ingredients and preparation method. Then, generate an image of this dish presented in an authentic Japanese dining setting.”

Exploring a Famous Landmark: “Research the history and architectural features of the Eiffel Tower. Provide a summary of your findings and then generate an image of the Eiffel Tower as seen during a beautiful sunset.”

Market Trend Analysis and Visualization: “Search for the latest trends in renewable energy technology. Summarize the key developments in solar power advancements over the past year, and then generate an image that visualizes the most innovative solar panel design mentioned in the articles.”

Competitor Product Analysis and Conceptual Design: “Find recent product launches by major competitors in the electric vehicle (EV) market.

ChatGPT Plus’s file upload feature opens up new possibilities for interacting with AI, offering a seamless way to enhance your experience. If you haven’t tried it yet, here’s why you should consider exploring this versatile tool.

File Uploads Made Easy

ChatGPT Plus allows you to upload various types of files for a more integrated interaction. Whether it’s a PDF document for analysis or an image of an object for detailed inquiries, the process is straightforward. This feature eliminates the need for extensive copying and pasting, enabling ChatGPT to analyze your data in its intended format for more accurate responses.

Bypassing Prompt Length Limitations

Encountered the “The message you submitted was too long” error? Uploading a file is an effective workaround. Be mindful, though, if your file is exceptionally large, it might exceed the token limit, affecting ChatGPT’s ability to process the entire content. As technology advances, expect to see expansions in these limits.

Versatile File Types and Actions

Documents (.pdf, .docx, .txt): Ideal for generating summaries, updates, translations, and more. ChatGPT’s proficiency in extracting information from PDFs is particularly impressive. For instance, try asking, “Address challenges with solutions” after uploading a document.

Images (.jpg, .png, .gif): Upload images for descriptions, analysis, or creative storytelling. Imagine uploading a photo of your pet and asking, “Generate an image of my pet sitting in First Class on a plane.” Mobile app users can directly take and upload pictures.

Spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx): While capabilities continue to grow, basic functions like finding, counting, and analyzing data work smoothly. If you encounter difficulties, consider converting your spreadsheet to a PDF for more efficient processing.

Presentations (.ppt, .pptx): Share your slides for summaries and improvement recommendations. Converting to PDF might enhance ChatGPT’s understanding.

How to Use the File Upload Feature

Utilize the ‘Upload’ button in the ChatGPT interface to interact with your chosen file. This feature is accessible both in the browser and mobile app versions. For more advanced capabilities, ChatGPT Plus members can enable Advanced Data Analysis in the Settings under Beta features.

Privacy Considerations

Prioritize your privacy when using this feature. ChatGPT offers options to disable chat history and assures not to use your data for training purposes. Stay informed by checking OpenAI’s Data Controls FAQ and additional insights on chatbot privacy.

Experience the Enhanced ChatGPT

The file upload feature significantly broadens ChatGPT’s utility, catering to educational, professional, or exploratory needs. Dedicate a few minutes to import non-sensitive files and experiment with various prompts. You’ll discover its strengths and limitations, pushing the boundaries of AI interaction.

Comparing With Other Platforms

At a subscription fee of twenty dollars per month, ChatGPT Plus stands out for its file upload capability. Yet, other chatbots, including free versions like Perplexity.ai and Google Bard, offer similar features, indicating a trend towards standardizing file uploads across AI platforms.

Amazon just announced the new Amazon Fire phone. The first thing I wanted to know was about BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) features. How will your business utilize this great new device? The news is good…

The Fire Phone, scheduled to be available the end of July from AT&T, tracks your face for “sort of 3D,” sports an amazing camera, can recognize almost everything it sees or hears, but what about features for your company?

You will have the ability to view MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. The phone provides Outlook and uses your Exchange server for messages, contacts, calendar, tasks, etc. The device supports encryption and is supposed to support VPN connectivity soon. Then, of course, there are so many apps available in Amazon’s own Fire Phone Apps in Amazon’s store. See details by googling: “Fire Phone for Work site:amazon.com” or click here: Fire Phone for Work

For IT Pros, they will be happy that the phone supports their ability to remote-wipe a lost or stolen phone and control the installation of applications. A notable tool is Amazon’s Whispercast.

Whispercast is a stable platform that schools and businesses use already. It provides an easy interface for your IT professionals to manage these devices including limiting Wi-Fi connectivity and provide content restriction (such as blocking access to social media sites). IT Pros can configure users into “groups,” with each group receiving different content and restrictions.

Soon other MDM (Mobile Device Management) tools will add robust features that your IT Pros need in order to enhance security and productivity for devices using your network.

Is there a Fire Phone in your future? Can your IT manage the BYOD features? At least you know it can “do business.”

Please post your comments below…

Some organizations still use Windows XP on some machines, and have plans to upgrade to Windows 7. This is a very bad idea, and here is why…

Is your IT department busy? Of course they are.

Do you want your IT professionals to focus on the most important tasks? Of course you do.

And the IT Engineers at Microsoft are swamped too. They have to choose where they will devote their best talents, their money, and their resources – and Microsoft is funneling their efforts into Windows 8.1. Not Windows 7.

Do you want to be a step ahead of your competition? You have to take risks. And guess what, this isn’t a real risk – it is a perceived risk.

Let your competitors wimp out. Now is your chance to move ahead! Start testing Windows 8.1 today.

If you choose to upgrade to Windows 7, and not Windows 8.1, you are making a real mistake. Stay tuned for more next week. We’ll handle the objections then.

Driving my 6 year old son to school the day after Halloween, he told me that some kids in the class got into trouble because they used blue and pink crayons to color a picture of a pumpkin. The teacher made those kids redo their pictures. My son was proud because he “colored it right the first time!” How dare that teacher. Since then, and for the rest of his life, I’m going to urge him to be different. Most successful people are. His only restriction is to be nice to others. As long as he isn’t hurting anyone, it is essential for him to “get out of the box!”

My intent is to stir up some anxiety and influence you to “get out of the box!”

iCloud, SkyDrive, DropBox, etc. – Are they secure? How do you know how much to trust “the cloud?” Here are the answers…

In most cases, when any service gets breached, they step up their security. One of the biggest reasons that services provide tight security is because they know their reputation depends on it. If they do suffer a breach, they might become more secure that anyone else – at least for a while.

Do this:

Any data that is non-sensitive in any way, feel completely confident using any of the “cloud” services. This is both for convenience (so you can share between devices and share with people outside of your organization) and or “backup” or archival purposes.

Any data that you deem as slightly sensitive, but the consequences of a breach would be minimal, store that information in the cloud too. When you are making your decision, assume there is a 10% chance that this data will be exposed while in the cloud. In reality, the chance of exposure is probably significantly less than 1%, at least from a technology standpoint. I want you to be overly cautious when you choose what not to put into the cloud. User and Employee error is also an important factor to consider.

For an added protection: Encrypt the files and data before you put it into the cloud. If you use a service to backup your computer to the cloud, make positive to set the proper settings to encrypt those backups.

For your most sensitive data, store it only on computers that you have direct control over. Do not store any data in the cloud if the loss of the data would be devastating to you, your business, or your customers who trust you with their sensitive information. Period.

The key to knowing what to (and what not to) put into the cloud is to categorize your data and consider risks vs. benefits. Cloud storage can save you time, money, and provide added functionality. Make informed decisions about what to store there.

If you are like me, when I type on my keyboard, the touch pad detects my thumbs and the cursor inexplicably jumps to somewhere else on the screen. That slows down productivity and increases one’s propensity to use profanity. There is a better way…

There is almost always a key, or a two key combination on your keyboard that will completely disable the computer’s touch pad. Ok, you’ve eliminated the problem. But how do you get work done without a mouse?

You could use the touch screen, if your device is equipped with one. Even so, you may find some applications don’t work quite the way you want when using the touch screen.

The answer is to connect a regular mouse! On airplanes, where wireless devices are not allowed, you can use a small “travel mouse” that plugs into a USB port. They are inexpensive, and be prepared to try more than one brand until you find one that suits you.

Then, use a regular mouse—wireless is fine—for working in all other locations. My preference, by far, is to get a mouse that runs on any surface. After all, we are talking about your laptop computer. Who knows where you’ll need to use it next? I use the Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse MX for PC and Mac. The mouse works perfectly on every flat surface I’ve encountered so far. Say goodbye to frustration.

It is worth mentioning that, for those of us whose wrists hurt after using a mouse, you may want to consider a “vertical mouse.” They take a little while to get used to, but less time than you think. I’m no ergonomic expert, but I can tell you that my wrist feels better when I use the vertical mouse.

Executives know that Macs have a “cool factor” but there is a problem. Executives who buy a Mac may find it difficult to get work done at the office.

If all you want to do is browse the web and send/receive e-mail, get the Mac and you are all set. Windows may be a “thing of the past” as far as your computer is concerned.

If you want to get other work done, forget about using Microsoft Office for the Mac. It is bad.

You could use Apple’s boot camp. It goes like this: When you turn on the Mac, your Mac will ask if you want to run Windows or Mac OS. You choose. The advantage is that your Mac basically “becomes a Windows Machine” when you want it to—and can still be a Mac the rest of the time.

Maybe the best solution is to use Fusion or Parallels. It goes like this: You boot the Mac as usual. Now, you can run Windows programs inside the Mac OS. The Microsoft Office you are used to runs fine right next to your Apple programs on the same screen. Cool.

Frankly, IT probably gave up trying to control what you do with your personal computer years ago. Ask IT to use Fusion Unity or Parallels Coherence on your Mac. Now you can “be cool” with your Mac and run all of your Windows programs, too. (With Windows 8, Microsoft may become “cool” too. Eventually.)

Please share this with your fellow executives—you may help them increase their ability to express their inner coolness, too!

C-level Executives, presidents, and owners, Windows 8 may change the way your organization works. Do you need new computers? Will your existing programs still work? You want to know if Windows 8 is “worth it.”

1. The learning curve inside of your organization will be shorter since you can still use your Windows 7 applications. Windows 7 runs on top of Windows 8 in what Microsoft calls the “Desktop.”

2. Windows 8 can increase the productivity of your workforce by providing an interface that looks and feels more like Android and Apple iPhone/iPad experiences. Your workers can drag work in the way they’ve become accustomed to.

3. Everything is “right there” on each device so that your workers can be productive on their computers, tablets, phones, etc. Documents and settings automatically synchronize to every device.

And two more bonus tips:

4. As you buy new hardware at your organization, strongly consider having a touch-screen computer or tablet to use Windows 8. Yes, the mouse will work, but the touch screen is much better. Imagine using an iPad, iPhone, or Android device using a mouse and no touch-screen.

5. If you want your IT professional to show you how this works, tell them:

To download and install an evaluation of Windows 8 go here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-8.aspx

To download and try Microsoft Office 2013 go here:

If you travel a lot, even around town, then seriously consider adding additional lightweight portable screens to your laptop bag.

Another use for an additional portable monitor is during visits and meetings outside of the office. You can have one screen for you to look at and another that you show to your customers and prospects.

The monitors connect to a USB port on your laptop. I have two of the Lenovo ThinkVision LT1421 14″ LCD monitors. Alternative monitors on the market that I’ve not tried include the AOC E1649FWU 16″ USB-Powered Portable LED Monitor and also the Toshiba 14-inch USB Ultra-portable Mobile LCD Monitor (No, I do not receive any kind of compensation for recommending products. Options are provided to you in order to save you time searching so that you can have choices when you determine what works best for you).

Best wishes as you and your team members become even more productive!
